How To Conquer Menopause
Do you Desperately need Menopause Relief?
Get Relief from Hot Flashes and Night Sweats related to Menopause
Did you know that you are just one of more than 55 million women who are now entering or are already in menopause?
It’s true. Maybe you are beginning to wake up in the middle of the night sweating … or maybe you are noticing a little more weight around your waist … or perhaps you feel like you just can’t get enough sleep?
And now you are wondering, “Could this be the menopause?”
“My flashes don't really flash. I’d compare them more to a sort of slow cooking feeling-I just gradually get warmer and warmer. I end up with this sticky, filmy feeling on my skin after I cool off. YUK. Can't get in the shower fast enough.”
Does all this sound a little too familiar?
Hi, my name is Barbara, and recently I started to experience terrible hot flushes, (you might call them cold sweats, chills or night sweats), resulting from the menopause. After several weeks of sleepless nights, and days when I couldn't decide whether the house was too hot, or too cold, and not knowing which clothes to wear, I felt like I was going mad.
I was becoming tired and annoyed at the slightest thing, and snapping at my husband who would shake his head in bewilderment at some of my little outbursts.
Don't spend days, weeks or even months trying out some "amazing snake-oil" menopause treatment until you know the facts about what causes them, and which remedies are effective. I wasted nearly 3 months trying a product which was quite ineffective at alleviating my symptoms!
After a visit to my doctor to discuss these hot flashes, he just wanted to give me a standard prescription HRT treatment, but I was dubious of the things I had heard about long-term treatment using these medicines. In particular I wanted to know more about the new-age compounded bio-identical hormones that can significantly reduce the symptoms of menopause and which, from more than 30 years of scientific research and clinical experience, are stated to be viable and safe (and I will tell you the shocking truth about HRT and "bioidenticals" in a short moment).
I felt that it was important to learn about some of the alternative ways of dealing with my problem, and so in desperation my husband and I decided to surf the Internet to see what could help.
Now if you've looked for information about "menopause" on the Internet or in bookshops, you will probably know there's very little practical help for dealing with menopause, and there is so much conflicting advice it makes knowing what works and what doesn't very confusing (as we had already discovered).
After searching through lots of websites and not really knowing which ones were accurate or to be trusted, and reading a number of different "free" books on the subject, we came across one particular book that provided excellent professional advice, practical information and included links to a number of reliable online resources. Forget all your freebies, if we were to start this search all over again, we wished we had discovered this book first!

“Menopause is such a difficult time, isn't it? I never would have dreamed it would be so difficult to go through. I always thought I could handle it without a hitch! Boy, was I uninformed!”
Easy-To-Read Advice For Both You and Your Partner!
What impressed us about this book was:-
 |
The information presented has been researched well, taking several months to compile, and also provides backup resources to ensure the latest information is available too. We liked this aspect because many other books and web sites we looked at seemed out of date. |
 |
The content has been read and approved by a medical professional. |
 |
It is an "electronic book" (an eBook), which means we were able to purchase, then download it instantly. I was able to start reading it on my laptop straight-away, and start acting on the advice it contained, although my husband later printed it out for me to read anywhere, so I could easily refer to it again. |
 |
It is a professional, well-presented, step-by-step manual which is very easy to read. |
 |
Includes many real-life comments and tips obtained with the “help” of many, many women who poured out their hearts and souls on the various forums and discussion boards across the Internet. The quotes you’ll see sprinkled through the book (some on this page) came directly out of the mouths of real women, just like you, going through this life passage. |

Aimed not just at women, but at couples. One of the special bonus reports provided with this ebook, is the Spouses Survival Guide, so it helps your partner (or other family members) understand what you are going through as well. The bonus report is written specifically for men, to understand women who are about to enter menopause or those already in the throes of it. If you are someone who loves a menopausal woman, you can learn a lot from reading not only the valuable bonus report, but the main book also. |

The book, How To Conquer Menopause, is written by Cathy Taylor (of publisher Creative Communications) and Kathi MacNaughton, a nurse and consumer health writer going through perimenopause herself.
Together they wanted to help women reclaim their health during menopause.
The book tells you about the 35 symptoms and causes of menopause, the classic signs being hot flashes, night sweats and cold sweats, and when you should seek further medical advice from your doctor, and more importantly what you should discuss to make your doctor take you seriously!
The bottom line is that many doctors treat menopause as if it were a disease, not a natural transition phase, so if you are uncomfortable talking to your own doctor, your first task will be to find one who really understands menopause and who is sympathetic to your preferred approach of dealing with it.
No matter where you live, the book provides you with the means of locating alternative doctors via international clinician list web sites, so this will help you find a suitable doctor locally.
“My doctor uses the cookie cutter method-oh, just gives me a prescription, a pat on the head, and sends me out the door. Same old, same old. Things to Do List-Get a new doctor!”
This book will help change your view on menopause so you can experience it as a positive milestone in your life, which is simply a transitional time, rather than a mournful and negative experience. But while having a positive mental attitude can help you cope better with the effects of the menopause, you can't just will it away!

Practical Solutions and Strategies for Coping with the Menopause......
We liked How To Conquer Menopause because it provided a number of reliable and trustworthy online resources where we could find further information on specific topics. While it covers clinical information briefly, the true focus is on finding practical solutions and strategies for coping with menopause.
The book includes discussion of the classic 35 symptoms of menopause, which if you have been doing some investigation on the Internet you may have come across. At first sight these symptoms seem overwhelming, but don’t despair. Most women don’t have ALL of these symptoms - at least not all at once!
Yes, unfortunately it’s true, your hot flashes have the habit of hitting you any time and any place, and it’s unlikely they’ll go unnoticed by those around you.
And yes, if you’re in a relationship, your partner may feel as though you don’t care anymore, when you rage at him “for no good reason”, and you turn away in bed.
“How or what can a man do to help a woman going through the change? I have been suffering along with my wife for the past 3 years, and I think we are about to call our 33‐year marriage quits…”
Your Menopause Affects The Ones You Love
Let me recount an amusing but poignant example of how the menopause was affecting both of us: I would be woken by a hot flash, with my mind racing and just couldn't get back to sleep, but then to top it off my husband would have the "audacity" to start snoring away next to me! Well, that would be the last straw - I got so annoyed I had to shout at him or poke him to make him shut up. Of course that woke him up too, disturbing his sleep as well.
This same thing happened for many nights, and was just winding us up, resulting in us both being crotchety, tired and unable to concentrate at work during the day.
“I can't believe the person Ive turned into. I used to be calm, slow to anger and just easy going. Since menopause kicked in, I've become a total witch. I'm short tempered, angry, and snappy - the slightest thing can set me off!”
One thing is almost certain… you’re not going to sleep as well once you enter your perimenopausal years. Many women don’t sleep well during the menopause years. Lack of sleep can definitely be a factor in your crankiness.
“I have had very few real hot flashes. What I do experience is a feeling of being too warm for lengthy periods, and my heart rate goes up. My husband will tell me that my skin feels like I'm burning up-especially at night.”
Sleep problems are one of the most common symptoms of menopause. Some women have trouble falling asleep. Others have trouble staying asleep because of chills, hot flashes, night sweats, or the need to get up and go to the bathroom (or even snoring husbands!). The result is an almost constant state of fatigue and low energy.
So you'll be pleased to know there is a complete section devoted to tips on how to get the sleep you need.
“I hate this fogginess… can’t pinpoint whats bugging me.”
Brain fog and poor memory are 2 of the more distressing symptoms of menopause.
Other women describe a sort of “creeping brain fog” and short-term memory problems. Ever had a senior moment of your own? It’s very humbling and can make carrying out your responsibilities as an employee, wife, mother, etc. very difficult.
Still other women complain of bothersome symptoms such as having more migraine-type headaches, a racing heart, or even weird internal shaking. Most of these symptoms can be attributed to hormone imbalances.
Maintain your sense of humor, and the perspective that this is just part of menopause, but it will pass as your hormone levels settle down. It doesn’t mean you’re going senile!

Don’t doubt yourself when you start to feel the racing heat, skipped beats, palpitations or overall jitteriness. It’s not all in your head, no matter what a doctor may tell you. Palpitations have a real, physiological cause related to your fluctuating estrogen levels.
You don’t need an antidepressant or anti-anxiety drug for this reason (though it may help if you’re feeling severely depressed or anxious).
How To Conquer Menopause discusses the more serious symptoms such as palpitations, bladder control and infection, and the increased risk of diseases such as heart disease.
There is also an important section about the treatment options available for Osteoparosis (thinning of your bones dues to calcium depletion), one of the most common effects of aging in women, which can lead to spontaneous fractures and curvatures of the spine.
Its root cause is the decline of estrogen in the body, which helps stimulate new bone growth.
There is a special section dedicated to other resources for learning more about menopause. These are available in the form of:-
-
discussion boards or forums,
-
surveys,
-
newsletters (Cathy also has her own newsletter which we highly recommend you subscribe to),
-
and a little "comic-relief" for the lighter side of the problems you may face.
Many web sites are available which try to provide medical information. Unfortunately, some of them are not very accurate or reliable.
How To Conquer Menopause only provides links and descriptions for reliable web sites, ensuring accurate medical reference information when you need it, safe in the knowledge that you can count on them for the best medical information on menopause.

SPECIAL BONUS REPORTS:
Overall the main content of the eBook is of exceptional quality, but the FREE Special Bonus Reports included when you purchase How To Conquer Menopause are simply spot on!
We think the bonus reports form an equally important, and integral part of the whole package.
You get 5 additional bonus reports (within the same download as the main book), which cover several important topics in much greater depth. [Quite unlike some bonus deals we saw available with other books about menopause, which were either non-existent, minimal, or even totally unrelated to menopause!]
Normally you shouldn't buy a book based upon the "extras" you get with the deal. But with How To Conquer Menopause the bonus reports are written in the same style, and are more like additional chapters. Together they make the whole package even better value for money!
Read on for our own thoughts on these special reports below, but if you want to discover exactly what they contain right now just click here.
Just take a look at what else you get!
Bonus 1: Discover How To Tame The Fire Monster Within: The 5 Keys to Controlling Those Annoying Hot Flashes
"Is it hot in here, or is it just me?"
This special report is by far the most useful, and the one I was most eager to read. By now the main eBook has given you the essential grounding you need, and this bonus report reviews and greatly expands your knowledge, helping you deal with the most annoying symptoms.
It helps you formulate a plan, broken into 5 key phases to combat your hot flashes. Providing definitions of hot flashes both by medical experts, and women (the real experts!), and describes the types of hot flash and what triggers them, it then goes on to give tips for reducing these "triggers".
While some of the advice here, upon reading appear common sense, they were things I had not given much thought to or considered seriously. Many of the actions you can take are simple and practical. There are also many real eye-openers.
"Formulating Your Plan" discusses the various types of hormone replacement therapy, man-made and natural, and their benefits and risks, studies and surveys, and offers suggestions for dosages.
The most effective natural remedies are introduced, followed by additional herbal or alternative medicines that are lesser known in their effectiveness, but which may, in combination, enhance the tried and trusted methods.
Bonus 2: Natural and Safer Alternatives to Hormone Replacement Therapy: The Logical Solution to a Normal Condition
The Special Bonus Report debating the pros and cons of HRT vs. Natural Treatments explains why HRT has potential for causing life-threatening side effects when used for long periods, and some actually result in more risks than benefits. For example, we were staggered to learn the actual source used for the most common prescription form of estrogen, called Premarin, is actually pregnant horses urine!!
No wonder that many women today are looking for alternatives to conventional HRT. In fact, a study conducted in the late 90s by the North American Menopause Society found that more than 30 percent of women use alternative therapies such as:-
This bonus report also recommends a number of points to consider before using natural products, including providing information relating to dosage, long term use and what sort of remedies do not work. For example "soy shakes" as a drink would have to be consumed in considerable quantity to offer any real benefit, and yet if you don't know any better, this is probably the first kind of "soy", easily available from the supermarket, that springs to mind and many women wonder why their hot flashes aren't abating!
Bio-Identical Hormones
There is a whole section devoted to compounded bio-identical hormones, together with the 3 types of estrogen, and the benefits of progesterone, and the various forms they are available in.
Let me tell you something very interesting about them....
The only natural thing about them is their molecular formula which is identical to the molecular formula of hormones our bodies make. That is a crucial piece of information that unfortunately for all of us, most conventional doctors aren’t aware of.
Bioidentical hormones have been used for thousands of years, originally by the ancient Chinese nobility, who consumed dried young women's urine to counteract menopausal symptoms, because it contains the metabolic waste products of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone.
Unfortunately you can't patent women's urine (think big corporate business here), and so in the late 60's, a U.S.A. company called Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceuticals introduced a synthetic (non-bioidentical) drug called Premarin. This is a hormone replacement made from pregnant mare’s urine, which they were able to patent, and hence make plenty of money from! [Hormones obtained from horse urine are not biologically identical to human hormones, therefore are not natural in the "bio-identical" sense].
Premarin (and later a derivative drug called Provera) were marketed for 30 years to millions of women as the "fountain of youth", the ultimate way to eliminate symptoms of menopause, and even prevent cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis.
Then in the early '90s, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, who were treating more than a million women a year with Premarin and Provera, partnered with the National Institutes of Health to perform a national study to determine the long term effects of the two drugs in post-menopausal women. The premise for the study was based on assumptions, without any proof of effectiveness. With extensive financial support, and free Premarin from Wyeth, the NIH went ahead with the study. And it's goal? To prove that aging women needed Premarin to protect them from diseases of aging.
Incredibly, and after almost 8 years, the study was halted abruptly in Summer 2002, because too much contradictory data had accumulated against Premarin suggesting the participants actually experienced increased incidence of certain types of cancers, heart attacks and strokes. Extensive media coverage created mass confusion among millions of women taking the drugs, and the doctors who prescribed them.
Naturally the government became concerned the results from this study might expose its intimate involvement with Wyeth. Subsequently a federal decision was made to distance the NIH from Wyeth; A public statement was made to the media that "all hormones are bad". And yet, Premarin and Provera were not removed from the market!
Initially doctors were told to stop writing Premarin/Provera prescriptions. But in time, the Wyeth marketing machine resumed except this time "low dose" Premarin and Provera came onto the market with the recommendation for its use "for as short a period of time as possible".
For a while it appeared as if no other research or options for women in menopause was available. But then women around the country started learning about bio-identical hormone options from a growing number of new medicine doctors and compounding pharmacists, while at academic institutions no one talked about hormones if they could possibly help it.
Then in 2004 a book called The Sexy Years by Suzanne Somers brought the option of bioidentical hormone therapies to the general public, and what had been a grass roots movement started to gain speed, and by 2005 bioidenticals had reached millions. By now Wyeth had lost billions of dollars and had to retaliate. They submitted a Citizens’ Petition to the FDA requesting stronger regulation and supervision of the pharmacies that produced bioidentical hormone preparations. Bear in mind that the practice of pharmacy and medicine are now legislated at the state level, so effectively Wyeth was now asking for the government to step in and protect their special interests.
Tens of thousands of women sent in letters and e-mails to the FDA demanding the Wyeth petition to be rejected. Women were saying, “Please let me keep getting my bioidentical hormones from the compounding pharmacies”, and were asking to keep this viable treatment option out of the reach of Wyeth and "their special interest".
Wyeth counteracted quickly with website information on menopause further promoting the use of Premarin, and conventional medical experts negatively describing the word "bioidenticals" as if it were a term invented solely for marketing purposes, which created yet more confusion.
Next, in October 2006, a new, well-intentioned but controversial book "Ageless" by Suzanne Somers pushed the barriers even further. Unfortunately, though Ms. Somers is an avid proponent of bioidentical hormones, she is not a medical expert and gave bad advice, and her book only served to push bio-identicals further into the proverbial menopause fire - you could say it suffered a hot-flash!
"We believe Ageless is considered detrimental and dangerous to the thousands of women who read it because the book freely and repeatedly blurs the line of medical ethics and science with hearsay. The so-called "protocols" endorsed and promulgated throughout the book may expose women to serious health dangers. They offer a "one size fits all" approach, endorsing dangerously high levels of estrogen. Not all women need to supplement their hormones: There are a range of nutritional and lifestyle approaches that can help women improve their health and hormone balance. If considering biodentical hormone therapy, women (and men) should work with qualified health professionals experienced and trained in the treatments with bioidentical hormones, a trained medical practitioner who understands disease states, their diagnosis and treatment. In addition, if bioidentical hormone therapy is prescribed it should be based on an assessment of the woman's hormone levels and then physiologic doses should be prescribed.",Erika Schwartz (M.D.),SUNY Downstate College of Medicine,NAMC,Author of The Hormone Solution - New York Post
Most recently, a resolution in support of Wyeth asking for more regulation from the FDA in the area of compounded bioidenticals, has now been passed by the AMA. This is a major crisis, where women’s health is at stake.
Bioidentical hormones are an option and choice for women: 30 years of scientific research and clinical experience have shown it to be viable and safe. Academic centers and the government should protect women and side with women’s health, not the big pharma. Our doctors should become more aware of bioidenticals, and you as a woman should have the opportunity to learn about them.
Finally this bonus report goes on to discuss in-depth the major and minor players in natural remedies and supplements;
Bonus 3: Weathering the Storm: A Spouse’s Guide to Surviving Menopause Together
“Passion? Sex? Oh yeah, I remember libido-itʹs something I used to have plenty of. To be so disinterested in such great pleasure troubles me. The only appetite I still have is for chocolate!”
Has your desire for your significant other diminished as your menopause symptoms mounted?
Is he upset and frustrated? Do you care?
Sadly, loss of sex drive is one of the more common effects of your estrogen level imbalance. And it can be a source of great stress in our relationships as well. Often you don’t feel that much like having sex in the first place, and then when you do finally agree to it so as to make your partner happy, it hurts. Is it any wonder that most perimenopausal women’s sex lives suffer as a result?
Your sex-life and how menopause affects it is discussed in the main book, offering helpful advice to both partners, but again the topic is further expanded in this bonus report aimed squarely at "the guy in your life".
My husband said that reading the sections on sex helped him understand better what I might be feeling, both emotionally and physically. He found them very enlightening and made him want to be more open and discuss these things with me, and to be more loving and gentle when we made love.
This has helped greatly, particularly since he is 10 years younger than me and so has a greater libido, and my paranoid mood swings frequently make me afraid he is going to run off with another woman!
Bonus 4: Discover… The Truth About Male Menopause
Is there such a thing? Well this bonus report was yet another interesting addition to this set of books. Not so much for myself, but it helped my husband understand some of the feelings he has begun to experience, and made him more alert for things yet to come.
Actually, men can go through a physical condition involving a change in hormone levels more accurately known as "andropause". They can also experience psychological changes similar to what women feel at mid-life. So, the purpose of this report is to give both men and women a better understanding of what is often called "male menopause". No, ladies, he’s not just trying to steal the sympathy vote!
Bonus 5: Rekindle the Romance: Discover the Sex Life You’ve Always Fantasized About
This excellent report covers many important aspects of the menopause and sex, for example the way it affects the female sexual organs, and how this can be complicated further by the roller-coaster emotional ride that menopause brings on.
It details a number of different relaxation techniques to get you in the mood, and natural herbs which will help increase your sexual desire. It also suggests several different methods to ease vaginal dryness.
But what I found very useful was the thorough description including diagrams relating to the Kegel Exercise, which strengthens the pelvic floor muscles. This has several benefits; it enhances your sex life - for both you and your partner (not just as a general exercise, but also very nice during sex!), improves muscle tone after pregnancy, childbirth, or being overweight, and helps to improve bladder control.
Menopause itself can bring much more freedom to your sex life.
Since you’re not menstruating, you no longer need to worry about birth control, but you should still practice safe sex, and the final words in this report give due diligence.

“I survived perimenopause! You will too, although it seems an endless process. Mind and body confuse and torment; emotions have a life of their own. There's a huge lesson about self-acceptance contained in this experience, a reminder that we aren't in control of absolutely everything, and there's an opportunity to reinvent ourselves as we prepare for the next stages of life.”
We highly recommend How To Conquer Menopause for its no bullshit, professional approach.
It provides all the information you need to start making a big difference in your life immediately, safe in the knowledge that other sources of information have been properly researched, so later on you can explore them, if you feel there are other things you would like to know more about.
